My love of model railways started when I was asked to help paint some of the figures on a friend's layout. I've always painted, but mainly on a flat canvas surface! Before I knew it I was hooked - and it wasn't long before I was painting and creating scenery, and designing layouts.
 

I'm a journalist, writer and TV producer by trade; I worked in CNN's Hong Kong and London bureaus as a business news producer before moving to BBC1's flagship Breakfast programme, producing UK business news.

It felt like a natural progression to combine my journalistic and TV skills with my hobby and create Model Railway Quest - featuring interviews with model railway builders, layouts, shows and tutorials. I love talking to railway modellers - so, doing interviews is perhaps one of my favourite things about creating this site.

I try to attend as many shows as I can, to get to know railway modellers and get up close to all the stunning layouts. If you see me at a show, do say Hi!

My exhibition layout Brief Encounter Monochrome made its debut at the Woolwich Model Railway Show in December 2023 - and is booked to appear at various model railway shows in 2024 and 2025.
